Sociëteit De Dieu (“we”, “our”, or “us”), located at Langestraat 114, 1811 JK Alkmaar, operates the DeDieu mobile application (the “App”) and the website www.dedieu.nl. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information when you use our App and website. • Provide and maintain the App’s and website’s functionality.
• Create and manage your user profile.
• Facilitate event organization and participation.
• Display your profile information to other users as needed for App functionality.

• Improve and optimize the App and website experience.

Legal bases (GDPR): We process data based on your consent (e.g., photos, newsletter), contractual necessity (to provide the App), legal obligations, and our legitimate interests (e.g., security and service improvement).

4. Camera and Photo Access

Why we need camera access: To allow you to take or upload photos for your profile and event photos.

How we handle photos: Photos you take or select are uploaded to our secure servers and may be visible to other users within the App according to your privacy settings.

Your control: You can revoke camera access at any time through your device settings and you can delete photos from your profile at any time.

5. Calendar Access

When you choose to add events to your device calendar, we request calendar access. This permission is used only to add event information when you explicitly request it. We do not read or access other calendar events.

6. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We may share your information only in the following circumstances:

• With other users: Profile information and event participation as needed for App functionality.
• Service providers: Third-party services that help us operate the App and website (e.g., Auth0 for authentication).
• Legal requirements: When required by law or to protect our rights.

7. Authentication

We use Auth0 for secure authentication. Your login credentials are managed by Auth0 according to their privacy policy. We receive only basic profile information necessary for App functionality.

8. Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational security measures to protect your personal information and to prevent misuse, loss, unauthorized access, unwanted disclosure, and unauthorized modification. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide our services. After termination or inactivity, data may be retained only as required by law. You can request deletion of your account and data at any time.

Our App is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we collected information about a minor without appropriate consent, please contact us at secretariaat@dedieu.nl, and we will delete it.
